Arnside
Jeff was good enough to let me follow him to the next village several miles away to the nearest hostel.I was very grateful. It was getting late and I would never have found this remote little village by the sea.Well as luck would have it the hostel was full so I back tracked on my own and found an inn on the water with a bar/restaurant below called the Ye Olde Fighting c*** (www.fighting c*** .co.uk).Holy cow what a great place and definitely worth the minimal up charge from the hostel! My room fee included breakfast and the owner who runs the joint even opened up her personal garage to let me lock my new purchase up since I had not had an opportunity to purchase chains/locks etc. They upgraded me to an awesome room with a view of the water.I headed downstairs after cleaning up to a splurged meal followed by an evening at the bar watching South Africa beat England in the Rugby World Cup.It was truly a great evening and a great way to start my trip off on my own as it were.Up till now I have had the comfort of family and a bed that I could count on.This was a nice way to start.
The village of Arnside is one of those places you will visit again; Right on the water and very near to the Lakes region which boats some incredible views and outdoor activities.I had stumbled onto one of those off the beaten path little English villages that you only imagine exist!
