Day 7
Like we said this area is all about the Maori so we head to Te Puia a geothermal area that includes the largest geysers in NZ and a Maori village. Several hours later having been visually and mentally stimulated (see pics) we decided to treat ourselves to the mineral baths at the world famous Polynesian Spa. So far we are finding all the attractions value for money and reasonable priced with brilliant free tour guides. We indulge in drinking smoothies looking out over Lake Rotorua, from a variety of thermal pools ranging from 36 degrees to 42. Louise is brave enough to cold water plunge between baths which is supposed to be hugely beneficial to your health, I will stick to smoothies....... Tomorrows adventure is the highly anticipated Wai-O-tapo Geothermal Wonderland. We head towards the Waiotapo Tavern, have some dinner and head towards a freedom camp on the edge of a lake nearby as the weather closes in.
