We awake to the sounds of the waves lapping the rocks, thank our lucky stars and head towards the next stopover point wondering what random adventures will befall us today. Firstly we head to the nearest main town Coromandel, a lovely quaint fishing village (so far they all are) wandered and then we decided to follow the 309 scenic road towards Hot Water Beach as recommended by Tourist Radio. So Tourist Radio is exactly what it says.... You plug a device into the cigarette lighter and tune the radio to 102.9 fm and hey presto you have chilled 80s tunes with a bing bong now and again giving to facts about the area you are in and recommendations of things to do etc, all GPS. Not long into the drive and a bing bong alerts us to Waterworks the "theme park for adults" where children have fun too. We pull into the car park and just because we can we go and see what the crazy looking place is about ( see pics). 2 hours later we emerge having had the most amazing, wacky fun adventure with the place all to ourselves. Everything in the theme park was water related or operated from the local water, all exhibits were recycled objects and there was science and a joke or two thrown in, what more could we want!! We jumped back into the van and waited for the bing bong, not too much later we were alerted to a waterfall. A great spot for a walk and lunch. The weather is fine and sunny and we need power tonight so we head towards the Top 10 camping site at Hot Water Beach ( these sites are recommended by Maui and are in brilliant locations apparently. Well they were not wrong about this site so we drive in and book a lovely spot for 2 nights, we also take the opportunity to become members ( lots of savings) and enjoy our free go of the sites go-karts.....vroom. We bust out the van BBQ for the first time and Louise cooks up a steak storm. It's all cows and sheep here so the meat is as everything so far, top notch. Yum!
