Day 27 - 28
We travelled on the 24th April and arrived mid-afternoon, to more rain. We arrived at Uranga station an hour late due a power failure, but the hostel had arranged to meet us and thankfully hadn't left without us. So we had a chilled out evening.
The following day was better; we were going to do a guided rainforest tour but the rain first thing in the morning put us off paying for it. So we waited for the rain to stop and made our own way out to the rainforest. We saw lots of Flying Foxes but nothing much else until our walk back. To our horror our path (which was only half a metre wide and our only way out) was blocked by a 2m long python. s***! We were pretty stuck and the snake was moving closer to us as it was dragging a bat in its mouth. Naturally Al had to go first, as Lorna was quite scared, unusually. We through twigs down to see if it would move, and it did, so we decided to stay still for a bit and take videos and photos. After 45 minutes we plucked up the courage to step around it as the bat was now half way down its throat. We headed back to the hostel to get some friends that we had met as a couple of them had mentioned that they had snakes and we thought they'd like to see.
On our return the snake was just finishing its meal, and Al thought it would be clever to touch it. Lorna was about to but it turned round and faced her so she decided it wasn't such a good idea.
We went back and bragged about our story and we have got to pass on our photos and video's to a couple of people.
