Day 9
We had breakfast in Canberra for one last time before heading towards the train station to catch our train for Sydney. As we arrived about an hour early we sat in the park reading our books.
The train journey took 4 hours and then we had a 40 minute walk to our hostel which was in Kings Cross. We had to walk up a killer hill with our heavy rucksacks on, which killed us. Kings Cross was known as the party place in Sydney and also the best place to grab a hooker for the night.
Our first impression of Sydney was that it was just like London. It was run down in parts and polluted. But then commercially wealthy, as we passed Ferrari and Lamborghini stores.
We had some food and then decided to update our blog for you guys, but you got us into trouble. We were asked to leave the computer after someone had made a complaint that we were on it too long. As we got upto leave we had dirty looks and clapping. We both gave looks back and went to chill out in our room wondering what the next 4 nights would be like.
The following day brought showers so we headed for an indoor activity first which was the New South Wales Art Gallery. Which was a bit dull. We then explored the botanical gardens. Lorna had a panic attack over the amount of bats and it took ages to get her through to the other side, it was worth it as we came upon the Opera House. This was huge and a remarkable design in real life.
In the background we could see the Harbour Bridge, whereby we decided to go and book our bridge climb. We could've done it then but we decided it was too cloudy and the weather was due to be better in a few days.
On our way back we stopped at the Contemporary Art Gallery and nudity seemed to be in vogue. The other notable display was the history of legalised abortion. This was very thought provoking and left us speechless afterwards...for once!
