Another day, another amazing adventure. We drove up to Ronda today. We met a couple from New York in the hot tub (not really hot by the way) and had a great conversation about Spain and life in general. We mentioned going to Ronda the next day and they right away discouraged us from traveling along the fastest route which cuts a path through the mountains and is filled with hairpin turns and the fact that you’re hugging the mountain side on the way up and wishing you were on the way down makes for a stressful trip. They suggested a longer safer route where it’s a more gradual climb. We decided that made sense and headed off.
The route took a couple of hours but the views were amazing so totally worth the extra time. We parked the car and promptly started walking the exact opposite way. Luckily a Spanish gentlemen overheard my questioning of the direction we were traveling and helped us reroute the correct way to the bullring, ancient bridge crossing and old town Ronda. Quick stop to pick up a map and hit the WC’s. Note: always have change in your pockets as not unlike bread, water, extra milk in your coffee etc everything costs money in Spain. We walked across the ancient bridge and stopped at an interesting little museum as well as checked out the surrounding fort walls. It started raining yet again but we pressed on. Lunch was at a little pub like place and I had Iberian pork which was delicious. Lots of spices and slow cooked almost like a pot roast. Probably the best food I’ve had while here. I checked out the recipe and I would need to find an Iberian pig. Something about a duet of acorns etc. Anyway finished up lunch and continued on our journey. All in all I’d say if you’re in the area Ronda is a must. Tomorrow is Alhambra and Grenada which spoiler alert as I’m writing this post a day late was cancelled as all the rain caused landslides and the roads were closed. We instead took it easy and then walked around a Le Canada Commercial a neat shopping center and saw the latest fashions and generally drank coffee and people watched. Tomorrow it’s back to the airport and flying to Rome. See you on the other side.

Dominique Your trip sounds amazing so far, love reading about it. We're back from our vacation and I'm getting some Christmas shopping done. I'll see what I can do about finding an Iberian pig for you on Amazon and EBay.
