The last of the three Canary Islands we will visit this time. There are officially eight islands now as it just passed to include the eighth island. A small island off the coast of La Palma. La Palma is the greenest and the only heart shaped island of the eight. We chose a volcano and wine tour. The volcano was San Antonio and has been quiet except for a small eruption in the 70’s since 1500’s. The volcano was basically a big basin with large pines growing out of it. Not wonderfully impressive but It was a beautiful day and the guide very informative so we continued around the island. They grow bananas, grapes and other crops in smaller quantities. The countryside was very beautiful. We arrived at the winery and were treated two two half glasses of wine. One red and one white. I liked neither but I’m more a cheap bubbly kind of girl. Bill was not overly impressed either. We walked around and then headed to a windmill and pottery shop. The pottery is made using the original patterns from the natives. They were nice but since Bill and I are living minimally these days we passed up our opportunity to purchase pottery. We walked the gardens, petted an adorable little dog and then boarded our bus to head back to the ship. It’s six days at sea so no major blog posts until the Bahamas. Cross your fingers for calm weather.
