Well we arrived and are tucked safely in our villa. Rough day. I didn’t sleep all night and we left for the airport at 5:30 am not that it mattered to me. The flight was on TAP which we flew on to Lisbon, it was a newer plane and very clean, this one while not dirty, I sure wouldn’t call it clean. They did offer a very cool morning snack however, sealed plates of cheese, walnuts, raisins and a chocolate chip granola like crisp cookie. We landed uneventfully and set off to find our luggage and rental car. The airport is in total disarray making it very hard to locate signs that make sense as after talking to one fellow who flies in regularly the car rental floors change all the time. We finally dragged our selves and our bags around enough to find Avis/Budget only to be told we needed to go back to arrivals and check in at the desk upstairs first. Not happy as we had been turned around numerous times already and all while diligently watching for signs so we would not get lost. Off we went even though we honestly weren’t sure where we had come from. We went up, across and down that stupid airport aimlessly looking for arrivals. We saw signs but no doors. I spotted a big ‘i ‘ on a post and told Bill to stay put with the luggage and I would ask for help. At least 8 people behind the airport information desk stared at me not wanting to break up their conversation. Finally one of them told me to go back down and ask the Avis people where I should go. I almost lost it, well I kind of did. Asking with a straight face if I was indeed standing in front of the airport information desk. I went back to Bill and we started over. Long story short we managed to finally find our way. Driving here was a little nerve wracking as twice we had people drive straight toward us on the wrong side of the road. We knew we were in the right as people were behind us. When almost there, as we had managed to get turned around for the third or fourth time, and there in front of us is a freaking rat crossing the road. Yuck!!
Once here we were rewarded with some good news. We had some resort credit left on our account and we used it to book a tour to Tangier in Morocco tomorrow. Glad we chased down the concierge lady as she was leaving otherwise we would have missed the opportunity as there is only one per week. What a score, I’m so excited especially if the medication works and I sleep. Sorry no photo, the rat would not stand still and me freaking out in the airport while totally exhausted and pretty close to tears is not funny. Wait a minute I just found out I can’t share a blog post without a photo so Bill ran out and took one of the resort we’re staying in. What a guy. I think I’ll take him to Tangier’s with me. Lots of photos tomorrow I’m hoping.
