Yesterday morning was spent watching Onno interviewing parents, teachers and POE staff sitting on pre-school chairs under a tree. Like most men, who are 6 feet tall, he didn't look that comfortable sitting on a plastic chair designed for a 4 year old. As a 5 foot 2 infant teacher I had no problem!!
The interviews were conducted with an audience of pre-school children, as you can see from the picture.
Today started even earlier than Monday as we had to be at a school 25km away by 7 o'clock. We were there, the DTMT were there, the kids were there (at least most of them were) but the staff were not. So at 7 o'clock one of the older children rang the bell and performed the flag raising ceremony and got the children to sing the national anthem. They behaved beautifully and half way through the Deputy arrived and she finished the ceremony off with a talk about hygiene.
I then observed a pre-school lesson and looked at the other classes and library. The feedback given by the DOE DTMT was very interesting.
