We're currently on the bus to Rome!! :) The bus is pretty sweet it's got movies and music to keep us entertained. And we're taking the bus directly to Rome, rather than the bus that stops via Ancona so we will get in at 3:30 rather than 6:30. The busabout lady said it takes is through the mountains and the outskirts of Florence. I'm so excited. I freaked out when I saw the first car. I couldn't see the person on the other side and for a second, thought the car was driving itself. I worked it out though! The drivers are mental. They zoom past, and one guy was just kickin back with one leg up on the dash board. It's different to say the least.
So, Venice!! Brendy finally got his bag. Yay Brendy!! It was sitting down at the reception desk for who knows how long, but atleast he got it and could finally change out of his clothes. He only had a pair of jeans for a day and a half in like 37 degree heat, so he was pretty excited to change into some shorts. We had happy Brendy again! Hooray!! Once he had changed he was keen to walk around Venice and show off those sexy chicken legs, so we hit the ground running and went back to San Marco Piazzaa d walked through the park near there and along the docks while the sun was setting. Venice is really beautiful at that time of the day.
In the morning we woke up with not much planned, other than a gondola ride some time during the day. We walked about town again, and came across a food market. s*** was still moving and it was creepy as all hell. Snails were trying to make their escape. They failed. And crabs were blowing bubbles. Pretty sure that's not normal either. From the fruit and vegetables section of the market we got some strawberries for breakfast! They were really good!! We bought a punnet each and just downed it. So good. We also had to change rooms because we were put in the wrong one to begin with. It was a little annoying, but we got moved to one with our own bathroom so we didn't have to use the cupboard shower anymore. The only down side was the door was directly across the hall from a real creepy painting, so every time we opened the door we were like Ergh. Well I was anyway.
Later that night we had an early dinner along the main canal, and then it was gondola time. Our gondolier was pretty cool. He was explaining to us that he is from a family of gondoliers and he is like fifth generation or something crazy. He knew what he was doing to. So many times Brendan and I were sitting there thinking we were about to smash into a wall or a bridge or another gondola but he didn't touch a single thing, and most times he was less than a centimeter away. It was crazy!! He gave us some history about Venice and showed us some important buildings, and when he wasn't talking he was singing. Some thing about Venezia. It was an amazing experience.
We woke up so early the next morning, to get to our first Busabout bus by 8:00. We were both sad to leave Venice. It is so beautiful. I'd definitely come back. So to get to the bus, we caught a water taxi, a train and a normal taxi, and we were Rome bound!!
