We never actually planned on heading to Poland before we left. I had wanted to go but didn't think we would be able to fit it in. We had only booked our flights four days before we actually left, so it was all pretty exciting. Warsaw surprised us both. I loved Poland and am so happy we managed to squeeze in a couple of nights. I really wished we had more time so we could have explored the country a lot more, and hit up a few more towns. It's definitely a country I can't wait to go back to.

Our flight wasn't direct to Warsaw. We had to fly into Gdansk, and once we were there, we caught a train to Warsaw. That was a b**** of a trip. We got into Warsaw at around 8 at night. We walked out of the station and were smacked in the face by a bunch of skyscrapers and real modern buildings which really surprised us. I was expecting a bunch of real old buildings. There was one big old building with a clock on it that was all lit up which was beautiful. That was my building porn for the day. Mmmmm. We found our hostel which was in an alley way and dumped our bags. We headed out on a good search as we had barely eaten all day and came across a burger place which was open at 9 pm on a Tuesday night and were like done.

The next morning we woke up and sussed out the brochures at the hostel. We came across a free walking your of the city and we got on board. The tour guide looked like Michael Sera and he had his little orange umbrella so we could all follow him. The tour was around the old town, which was exactly what I expect Warsaw to be. There were gorgeous old buildings and parks full of orange, yellow and green trees with piles of leaves underneath. We visited a number of places within the old town on the tour and at the end of it had a shot of vodka. I was pretty excited by that. It was ice cold and it didn't have that disgusting straight vodka taste, but it still had the burn which made my head go warm. After our tour, we got lunch and for some reason, ice cream. We walked around the old town a little more and checked it all out and I got a little babushka doll which made me so excited. The last piece is so ridiculously tiny we were so amazed when the lady at the stall was showing us how tiny the last piece was that she fell in love with us and have us a free little babushka mobile figurine thingy. That was lovely. We walked back to the room and Had to print out our boarding passes for our flight in the morning. They had the worst computer of all time. It still had the massive chunky screen and was running on windows XP. Brendan hated it so much it was hilarious. We finally got everything printed and then we headed out for dinner. The waiter was really odd and kept sitting on the arm of the other chair at our table and kept telling us about his work hours. We really weren't that interested but it was wonderful to know.

We had to catch a train to the airport in the morning. We had read on the internet that there was a direct bus which we attempted to catch, but no one knew what we were talking about. We ended up walking around for an hour an then giving up and catching the train. In that time I managed to score a free packet of sliced cheese. We made it to the airport and within no time we were boarding our plane and heading to Belgium.
