Como was awesome. We did absolutely nothing and it was fantastic! It is so relaxing and so so beautiful. We
We're lucky enough to be picked up from the station in Como by the owners brother. Thank god because we never would've found it. We caught the train from Bern, and got to stop off in Zürich. I wish we had a chance to explore Zürich, even if for a couple of hours, but I got free Lindt chocolate at the station, and the Swiss won my heart again.
Once we got to the station, the owners brother came up to us and whisked us into his car really suddenly, and it just kind of hit both of us, while we were driving that we could've been kidnapped. Good news, we weren't and we made it to our place! Hooray!!
Where we stayed was really cute! The bed was huge and we had a view of the lake from our window and balcony. It looked like a painting.
We learnt pretty quickly that unless your staying in the middle of como, you need a car. We went for a walk in search of pizza and could only walk along a highway in single file to get around. We walked for ages and went into the first place we saw. They had no menu and no pizza but the food - which was just pasta - was really good! And super cheap too. We walked back and hung out for a little while in our room. We watched modern family online and just relaxed until we went out for dinner. We went across the highway and walked along the river first and Brendan had a beer and I had ice cream because there were no cold alcoholic beverages that I enjoy. We sat by the river and watched the ducks and skimmed stones until it was dinner time. We went to a really nice restaurant and sat outside overlooking the lake and had the most amazing steak. With lemon. And it works. It's so simple yet genius. And the potatoes with it were so good. Brendan was doing the really close eating thing again and said it was like the best steak he's ever had. Calm down Brendan. After dinner we walked back and watched a lot more modern family to avoid the weird old German/Italian/American couple staying at the same place.
The next morning, we had breakfast with that weird old German/Italian/American couple. They did a lot of talking. Especially about Australia. We were like yup. Cool. We attempted a day excursion to the town of Bellagio. We failed. We waited a little while for the bus, and then we were like screw it lets just hang out in the house all day. We were the only ones there so we were able to chill out and do whatever we wanted. We skyped Chris and watched Carlton get kicked out of the finals and then I drank a bottle of wine because I could. I got a little bit drunk, and then we decided we would go for a walk down to the centre of Laglio which took about half an hour. It felt like five minutes which was awesome. We headed back and watched some more modern family before heading out to dinner at the same place for a different type of steak. So we mixed it up a little bit. We went back for more modern family and just relaxed. It was really nice to just catch up on sleep and chill out, rather than be on the go all day.
We woke up the next morning feeling really refreshed, but ready to leave. We had breakfast again, and the owners brother was just kind if awkwardly there. We thought he was really nice. Then we asked him for the bus timetable, and he got out his iPad. Still a reasonably nice guy. Then boom! It all changed. First thing in his history to pop up - youporn. I got so awkward. Brendan and I exchanged a look and I got so so so awkward. We were like awesome bus times and ran upstairs. Brendan was laughing so much and I was laughing and so awkward. The guy either didn't notice or just didn't care because he was so yolo about it. I made Brendan go down stairs and pay because I was so awkward and Brendan thought it was hilarious. When we left, I couldn't even look him in the eye when I said goodbye. I didn't want to stare into that dirty soul. So, we set out to catch the bus. We lugged our bags down the stairs to the bus stop and waited an hour. The bus never showed up. It was Sunday. Apparently they decide that they just don't want to come. That was nice. We even asked a local to help us out with the bus timetable because we thought maybe we were reading it wrong. He had no idea and was just as confused as we were which was comforting. From his calculations, the next bus would be in another four hours time, if it decided to show up. So, we decided screw it, we'll walk. It was hell. We walked and walked and walked with our stupid back packs and I felt like my shoulders were going to cave in. They didn't, so that was was a plus. We walked 5.2km which took us just over an hour, and we weren't even close to the main centre of Como. We happened to stumble across a ferry dock which was like a gift from the gods and we rushed over and bought a ticket to Como. Just as we got inside the shelter it started to rain, so the timing was perfect. And it rained and rained. We got soaked just getting onto the ferry and we were standing in the rain for about 30 seconds. It was pouring, but I was happy because I wanted to go on a boat while we were there. Once we arrived in Como, we had to walk from the ferry dock to the train station in the pouring rain. We got so ridiculously soaked. But finally we were headed towards Milan!
