Rolling into Birdsville we hit the information centre to scab as much power as we could to recharge devices and then to the iconic Birdsville pub. After our second border crossing (where Hamish found a friend), we made it to Birdsville. We were so happy when our mobile phones all started beeping with incoming messages. It's so hard to be without mobile phone service these days!!! The trip was more arduous than expected and was so rocky. One tyre casualty on the Daintree camper which was beyond repair. Bummer! We arrived at Mungerannie where there was a campground with showers, toilets and an artesian swimming pool. The next morning, Julie was the only soul brave enough to try the artesian pool on such a chilly morning. We didn't think it was a nudist camp but Julie politely averted her eyes when a fellow camper decided it was okay to strip to the buff for a swim in the pool.

As we pressed on, our first stop was at the Clayton Bore which was an artesian spring. The spring fed into a hot tub which we couldn't resist - by doing some washing. We had our first water crossing which was about 2cm deep.

We then headed to Marree where we were able to purchase fresh bread!! How decadent to have fresh bread sandwiches for lunch along the Birdsville track. Steve took this great photo of a Tom Kruse Truck with the Maree hotel on the back!! Good work Steve.
