Lake Mahinapua to Franz Josef
We awoke to the sounds a torrential rain and the smell of bacon calling out to us. A first for us this morning as we ate pancakes, maple syrup and bacon. Matt was loving it and had two full plates but Char was not a fan. And just preferred the pancakes. Once we had packed and loaded the coach we headed to Franz Josef, home of the glacier that we want to climb. This trip includes a helicopter ride and 4 hours of climbing, hiking and ab sailing on the glacier. We stopped to get info about the glacier climb to be told it would be unlikely it would run due to the weather. But with our fingers crossed we stayed optimistic.

As the rain poured all day with no sign of even slowing down we went in the biggest hot tub in NZ and played games with the group. The one thing that was on everyone's mind was who was going to win the fancy dress.
Arias announced the judges decisions at 9pm. They were as follows:
3rd - Hester the happy meal (Prize - free ticket to the queenstown pub crawl)
2nd - Matt the Maxi Tampon (Prize - Voucher for video and photos for a bungee worth $90)
1st - Daniel the Dirty Laundry (Prize - Canyon Swing)
After getting a place we celebrated and one turned into a few more drinks and a limbo competition. Matt got through to the second to last round with Char been disqualified for bad technique in the early rounds. The whole night seemed to air the sleazy nature of the bar staff and the atmosphere was creepy to say the least. It became unbearable when the 35 year old guys were getting 18 year old girls paralytic so they could hook up and purposely getting one girl so drunk that she would pass out. Of course, our mature minds kicked in and Char sorted the girl out with some of the gang and made sure she got to bed and was still breathing. The night ended with a Vegemite on toast marathon with Hes and Emma who equally love peanut butter.
