We have arrived in Edmonton with bike in one piece, so Graham's paranoia about the bike being lost or left behind was unfounded. However to ensure there were no problems we did leave home at ridiculous O'clock this morning and the check in for our 10.55am flight was not even open when we arrived at 6.00am, but we were not the first people there waiting with bikes!
There were a lot of GB athletes looking cool and wearing the GB gear at Gatwick. Graham didn't want to look too cool so didn't wear the gear, I was trying to look cool with my new bag!
On the approach to the departure lounge we stopped to watch the bikes being thrown onto the baggage trailers , this was not a good idea , it gave many of the athletes a minor heart attack.
Flight was good and relatively quiet, no children or obese people on this flight! So well done Air Transit ( yes no one has ever heard of them) they delivered us here with bike.
We left a wet and miserable London and arrived in a sunny and warm Edmonton. The transfer was all very efficient and apart from a lot of my luggage arriving damp there were no problems.
Downtown Edmonton is not very inspiring, large tower blocks on a grid system. Our hotel is linked to a shopping Mall so did a quick recce to buy some milk , but I couldn't find any M&S food shops in this Mall. We failed to keep awake to adjust to the correct time so a very early night.
