An early start today as the London crew were leaving at 6.30 am with the aim of working in the afternoon. Journey went to plan apart from Simon having to wear Duncan's clothes and shoes to work! Another key disaster.
Although it was a wet and windy morning, the "oldies" planned a longish walk from Port Quinn to Port Isaac. We waited until late morning for the weather to improve before setting out. We had time for a bit more puzzelling but the pace was very slow, just like our walking later.
Parking at Port Quinn we headed up on to the coastal footpath where we blasted by the strong winds. The wind and the steep climbs up and down were quite challenging for the "Thames Path Walkers" so we felt we deserved our fish and chips in Port Isaac. The wind had blown the rain clouds away and the sun shone on this beautiful stretch of coastline which was covered in a array of colourful wild flowers.
The route across the fields back to Port Quinn was somewhat quicker although muddy . It took us near to the Doc Martin filming hub, a farm which has been converted into a studio. We obviously couldn't gatecrash but the farm yard was full of interesting vehicles, PC Penhale's police Land Rover and Burt's van. We returned to the car park and looked forward to a cuppa and cake back at the house in the warm conservatory with the hot sun beating down on us, there was soon only the sound of snoring to be heard. A supper of the weeks leftovers was followed by the last attempt to finish the puzzle. Were we going to be beaten by the sky ? Yes we were.
