 LeJoG Blog June 9th: Day 8, The Land of the Living! Today started from the YHA in the tiny, lovely, 18th century village of Slaidburn. It really felt miles off the beaten track with only very minor roads leading to it. The road out was called Quiet Lane, and we didn't see a car for about 8 miles! The road just climbed and climbed for 6 miles to the Cross of Greet at 487m, absolutely unrelenting, as the day warmed up.As we pulled into Kendal, I had been experiencing some vibration from my back wheel, so we stopped at an Asda, where I found it was so loose it was ready to just fall off!!! Contacted a local bike shop and they repaired it on the spot. Top Banana, Evans Cycles in Kendal!!Cycled through Windermere, Ambleside, Rydal, Grasmere and finished by circumnavigating Thirlmere, then downhill into Keswick, to the YHA.8 days done, 520 miles, into Scotland tomorrow!
