Day off today and walked round the Duomo and the Campo main square. We were here 20 years ago and it still is stunning. Started pouring down in afternoon and we slobbed out and had a siesta. In evening went to a studenty pub and watched Liverpool destroy Man City. Hope weather improves for tomorrow’s walk.

Left an empty Monteriggioni after a good breakfast and headed to Siena. For some reason we both were not really up for the walk today. Weather was a flat light and that did not help. There was nowhere to stop for a coffee and we were pleased to arrive at our hotel which on the Via Francigena. It’s a modernish 3 star but nice to have a change from old buildings and powerful WI-FI!
