hello!
wel our first day in bangkok was very interesting! we explored on foot for about an hour, constantly being harrassed by tuktuk men wanting to take us anywhere for 5baht= 10p! we got talking to one of the locals about the best way to get around and find things, and suggested to do a deal with the tuktuk men. so we managed to get a tuktuk to take us around all afternoon for 20baht = 40p! we visited big buddha, lucky buddha and marble temple, and the tuktuk man would wait for us outside! not the safest mode of TRANSPORT, DODGING AND DIVING BETWEEN CARS, AND THE DRIVER BEING ABOUT 14 YEARS OLD! one major problem with tuktuks is that they take you places you dont want to go, such as what they call "fashion markets" which are expensive tailors, and tour offices. we think they get commision for bringing travellers. we then asked the tuktuk driver where to find some good food for lunch, and he took us to find some seafood. we ended up at a building with fish tanks, and a few tables at the back. we were not sure if it was a restaurant or a fish market, but we didnt stay to find out! last night we went out for a nice meal at a local bar and restaurant. this area gets really lively at night with night markets and music, and has a great atmosphere.
we planned to go to the grand palace today but its raining, so we will take this opportunity to explore downtown.
SPEAK SOON
