well, we are now in the far north of thailand, amongst the paddy fields and pineapple fields. On the way to Chiang Rai yesterday, we stopped at the elephant conservation centre, which was great. We watched the elephants bath, then paint pictures! then had a elephant ride through the jungle, which was very bumpy! After, for lunch our tour guide took us to a local food market, there were a suprising amount of fried cockroaches, and beetles etc. Neither of us were daring enough to try any so we just had sticky rice and chicken! The rest of the day was travelling up north in the mini van. For dinner, the tour guide took us to a famous restaurant, called 'cabbages and condoms'! It all started up from an AIDs awareness campaign, the food was good, and the famous slogan is 'our food is guaranteed not to cause a pregnancy'! Random, i know. Today we went to the Golden Triangle, which is where Thailand, Laos, and Burma meet. We had a boat ride over to Laos to a market, but we couldnt cross into Burma through passport control. Tonight, Mr Li is taking us to a 'Lady Boy Cabaret', which should be interesting!
We leave really early tomorrow morning, heading to our last stop Chiang Mai. Looking forward to our Hilltribe visit, and bamboo rafting!
Speak soon,
Lauren and Ally
