Hello, just waiting at Bangkok airport for our short flight to Koh Samui. We cant wait for a week of sun, sand and sea.
Yesterday, we went on a hilltribe trek which was great to see more of the countryside. We were invited inside one of the hilltibe shacks, which was very basic to say the least. After the trek and a bite to eat (made by the tribe), we went bamboo rafting. It was 4 people to one raft, so ally and i went with one of the rafting officials, and Bill, the crazy 15 year old canadian on our tour. Bill made it very entertaining, while trying to splash me and wobble the raft, he got his bamboo stick stuck in some rocks and fell into the river! If there was anyone in the group to fall in, it would be him! We have a great action photo of the 3 of us. Towards the end of the rafting, we went down some mini waterfalls. Although we managed to stay on the raft, we got soaked! We had a blast.
We got on the night train back to bangkok, which was surprisingly good. It had seats which folded out into bunk beds, so we managed to get a good night's sleep. It was a 13 hour train ride, but we slept about 9 hours, and played cards with the group, so it went quite quickly.
Said goodbye to the group at the train station, however, we have plans to meet up with some of them on the islands next week.
Talk to you next from paradise!
Lauren and Ally
