Alice had to get an 8 am flight this morning, as Flo was coming to visit her in Auckland, and then they are going up to Bay of Islands, as we never went when we were doing our road trip, so she got a lift in with David (who leaves for work at about 5.30).

Today's task (which was a bit lonely without Alice there) was to dig up the compost and put it into sacks, although I started digging up the wrong side of it, i.e. the more recent one which hadn't been left to decompose for 12 months, and so I had to pull out rancid celery stalks. It was burning in the heat of the sun so it looked like a less appetising ammonia smelling hangi!

I wanted to make up for not doing anything yesterday (and even before that me and Alice felt in debt) so after lunch I finished doing the compost, and then did an hour of barberry, so my afternoon was pretty boring.
