On Thursday we visited the site where the Treaty between the British and Maori chiefs was signed in 1840, Waitangi. Very historical and interesting. We drove into Paitha and caught a ferry across to Russell.
Yesterday we moved on. Pagoda Lodge was beautiful but we have all been attacked by mossies!,,
We drove back down the top of Northernland to Auckland around the bay and up the west coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. We clocked a lot of miles but again scenery was worth it. We are in a bed and breakfast in Whitianga. For some reason the lodges moved us but all is good.
No Internet where we are staying so we are sitting outside the library in town. It is another beautiful day. We are going to drive round to Hahei where you can dig holes in the sand and make your own hot spring!, We have booked a boat trip for the morning to sail around Cathedral Cave. We will be moving tomorrow

Peter Watson The map with your blog is most disconcerting. It does not follow the land but has you driving on the water! John's companion on the plane from San Francisco must have had a stronger effect than you realised!
