Kya Travels
I woke up early this morning and went downstairs to organize for us to change rooms. Amy was coming to Bordeaux and we wanted to swap to a three bed room so we could stay together. So I organized that, then went back up to the room. My hayfever was a bit mental this morning, so instead of trying (and probably failing) to get back to sleep, I stayed up and packed up our bags. After that I was tired enough to get to sleep without sneezing for twenty hours, so I set an alarm and went back to bed. At about 12ish we got up and got ready then stood on our balcony for the last time to keep an eye out for Amy. We did a quick video saying that we were looking for a friend to replace Lyle and pointed Amy out, before yelling out to her. Yeah, we're pretty funny. Then we went down to meet her, and organized our little room swap. We dropped our stuff off then went for a walk down the street and into the city. We went back to the Italian place from one of our first nights here, CPP, and got some yummy food and had a good chat and a catch up with Amy. It had started to rain by then, so instead of walking around the town, we just went down to the Irish pub we'd gone to that other day as well and had a beer. The rain was not letting up and just kept getting heavier, but eventually slowed for a bit, so we thought we may as well head off. Shorts and thongs probably weren't the best idea! We walked back to the hotel the other way, down Rue st Catherine, and the ground was ridiculously slippery! I was walking about half a km per hour, and my feet were slipping with every step! We eventually got down to the Place de la Victoire where the pavement turns back into cobblestones, so I had grip again! We made it back to the hotel, quite soaked through by this stage, and I had a shower and we all had a bit of a snooze. When we woke up, I put some real shoes on and we headed back into the city and walked around the streets for a while looking for somewhere to go for dinner. After wandering back and forth and all being a bit indecisive, (well except for Darren, but Amy didn't like his suggestions!) we ended up at a Chinese place called La Chine. We opened our menus and one of the first things I saw on there was frogs legs, which I promptly pointed out to Darren. (Once again, being vego is awesome sometimes!) Obviously he had to try it, so we ordered our food then had a good chat and some wine while we waited. And wait we did! It took around an hour for the meals to come out!! Lucky we weren't in a rush, and lucky we were having some good flowing conversation! We got our food and the frogs legs didn't actually look that bad! They were fried and covered in a sweet and sour kind of sauce. Apparently they were quite tasty too! (Even Amy agreed), and tasted quite similar to chicken! The little bones they were pulling out of them were weird though! We all splashed out and got some dessert too. Yum.... Banana fritter.... After dinner we headed out and walked down to show Amy the mirror pool, which she loved, as well as the beautiful buildings and sculptures around Place de la Bourse, then we walked along the river bank and back to the hotel where we sat downstairs using the wifi for a bit (we can't pick it up in our new room!) and then went up to bed.
