Kya Travels
We had a massive sleep in today, still recovering from our cold type thing, then went for a walk to find some lunch. We found a little indochine restaurant and got some food there. Mine was awesome mixed veggies and rice in an I-don't-know-what sauce, and Darren's was like a noodle salad with fried beef bits. Mine was better. After lunch we went to the tourist info centre and got some brochures for wine tours and that kind of thing, then went back to the hotel for more rest. We slept/lazed the rest of the day away, then decided it was probably time for more food! So we went out and beat our laziness and walked the 15ish minutes into the town centre. We walked around a few streets and ended up at an Italian place. We ordered a pizza and pasta and a bottle of wine to share, but Darren didn't like the pasta.. Worked well for me though, cos I loved it! Too much eggplant and Parmesan for Darren's taste! After dinner we had a drink at an Irish pub called the Blarney Stone (hey, I've been there!), and had a chat to the bartender who was from Dublin. After a drink there we went out and started heading back to the hotel. We were talking about how hard it is to make friends and meet the locals with the massive language barrier, when we were stopped by some locals and asked for directions. We didn't speak French but a couple of them spoke English. They were looking for a pub, and invited us along with them, which was so nice! So we chatted to the two that spoke English, Orianne and Antoine, who were from a place near Paris, Lille, and were in Bordeaux for their internship. We got to the little bar that their friends were at and got a drink there. The place was known for their 'piscines' or 'swimming pools' or big glasses of cocktails, but Darren and I just had a beer! We hung out with Orianne and Antoine and met some more people there. At one stage a bunch of girls were doing a conga line kind of thing and grabbed Darren and put him at the front! So funny! So after talking about not meeting any locals we ended up having an awesome night out with the locals! Eventually the bar closed and we headed out the front where we hung out with Orianne and Antoine for a while, and Darren had a chat to some musos as well. Orianne was telling us about a house party that her housemate was having the next night, and said she'd ask if we could go! That would be awesome! Eventually we said goodbye and headed off back to the hotel and went to bed.
