Thursday 12th August Day 2 York
We started off his morning with breakfast and then offered to pay our bill at the B&Band they had us leaving this morning but their confirmation showed an extra day. So Natalie and her mother instantly blamed the father - same the world over.Luckily they were not full so no one was put out on the street.
As today was our cultural day we walked into town and and found the post office and posted the parcel home and then set off to fine a coffee. Up a little side alley and we had our coffee stop and a really nice coffee. Jan's coffee was very hot so took ages for it to cool enough.
We were heading for the York Castle Museum and as my reading specs were back at the B&B had to find a £1 shop to by another pair. We did both buy a couple of shirts/blouses cheap as in the sales.
The York Castle Museum was near Cliffords Tower which we went up to last time here and we eventually found both. We paid the £20 entry and started through the rabbit warren halls and corridors. It was set up as living in York through the ages from Victorian times until present day. The street set up in Victorian times was very good and reminded us of the museum at Matakohe in northland. There was a mill house and a 1914 War exhibition, a Road to Waterloo exhibition - went the world changed forever, the sixties and a York Castle Prison which was dark and very claustrophobic. All in all we felt we had been overcharged compared with other places we have seen.
