Friday 28th August – Milan to Venice
By train from Milan Central to Venice.
We got up around 7.00am and packed and then went to breakfast. Afterwards paid our bill and got the hotel to call us a cab to go to the train station.
It’s a big railway station and we had a wait of about 30minutes before we could board our train. It left bang on time and away it sped. Two and a half hours later we eased our way across the causeway to Venezia Santa Lucia.
We got off and soon were in the hot sun getting a ticket for the boat (a Vaperetta) to take us to the stop nearest our Hotel. Not easy with our very heavy bags.
After a bit of a false start we finally found the Hotel where we were to check in. It is not where we are actually staying and that is down a narrow alley third alley up from the Hotel. We are actually staying in the guest house of the hotel. No 5151 on Calle de Fumo which changes from Calle Del Buranelo after about 50m. Very confusing.
