Decided to give the oul lie in a miss this morning! Got up at 8am and went out for run. Was an excellent morning for it..run on banks of Yarra river onto the running area for Melbourne called 'the tan' (due to it's brown pathway, think it's made of sand). The loop is about 4km...it was my first run this holiday so was a bit surprised how easy it was, especially since I had a heavy strapping on my hamstring, but didn't feel a thing.
Got back to apartment and after quick scrub of the palmolive, I made carol breakfast (I say 'made'; I mean took her bread from freezer to defrost!)
We decided to stroll up town to visit the eureka sky deck, 267 metre, 88+ floors tall building with spectacular views over Melbourne. We used our 'borrowed' student IDs and saved about 15 bucks. Cheap skates but every little counts when your are back packing through oz, a wise man said!
Once at the top there were great views over Melbourne, the viewing deck had fixed scopes in different parts of the city. Got some great pics.
There is an extra at the top called 'the edge' in which you walk into a viewing platform which is moved out over the edge (hence the name) of the building so you have clear views above, below and to the sides of Melbourne city. Absolute class and well worth the extra $12. Of course they take a pic of you (no cameras / phones) allows on the 'edge' but given the cash we saved we bought one (after seeing the state of it first!). Sinéad and David had one taken before which looked cool so we were always gonna get it :-)
We headed back to apartment for a spot of lunch before takin it easy for afternoon, we went to tennis courts for a bit of a run around. (@carol, looobbbbbb).
Has a bit of grub courtesy of chef Howard before putting on the rags for a night out with the lads. Met David's friend and went to a few bars with them before ending up in...you guessed it the Casino!! Didn't get out of there until about 3am (but was up money which is a first!) and strolled home via KFC! Not looking forward to waking tomorrow!!
