Had a long sleep in today, could really get used to these!!
After a nice bacon & eggs breakie we set off for aquarium. When we reached aquarium, we seen prices were fairly steep but Sinéad and David had student IDs which they said we could use. We decided to do other stuff and maybe hit the aquarium tomorrow to avail of cheaper price!
We decided to visit a contemporary art gallery (AACI) which was very small but had a few pieces of quite cool art. I wouldn't normally be into art galleries art all but decided to repay wifey for dragging her around a stadium tour 2 days back (and planned to drag around another one or two before we leave but she doesn't know yet ;-)).
En route to gallery we passed an UGG shop..possibly one of the many things on Carols shopping list for Oz. She resisted the urge to spend anything until the week we return to Melbourne..phewwwwww!!
The rain started to fall pretty heavy so we decided to head back to apartment to get ready or our big night (I say we, I mean Carol..).
Let me give you some background..last year Carol and I religiously watched Masterchef Australia, and in particular an Amateur chef called Marian Grasby.
Carol adored her. She didn't win it but was definitely one of the stand out chefs in the competition. She got knocked out under questionable circumstances, and Carol actually refused to watch it anymore after that!!
So....when we planned to come to OZ I googled Marian to see what she was upto now and it turns out she had a new book coming out and was doing book signings and chats when we were in oz. This was my chance to score some brownie points!! Which hopefully would come in handy as i wanted to pay a visit to the Casino later in our trip to win me my fortune!) Funnily enough she was in Melbourne this week and with help of Sinéad we booked tickets to see her in Josie Bones pub (owned and ran by another Masterchef contestant, Chris who put beer in every recipe he had - my kind of guy).
After we were dolled to the nines, we set off and met Sinéad for some Thai food. So nice and so cheap..
We met Alex and headed to pub via tram. By the way, the lot of us fare evaded! (Except Sinéad who had a weekly ticket which was valid!).
We arrived early naturally enough (!!) and queued for a few mins. Anyone trying to hop the queue were promptly shown where back of the queue was by Carol! Nothing was getting in her way tonight!!
We enjoyed a great night with Marion, a few drinks, nibbles from her book, a book signing, a few pics and we were off! I think Carol was very very happy tonight!
We, eh, fare evaded again, s***ting bricks again, but we made it back into central Melbourne.
Once we were back we don't get much talk from Carol who was in awe in her newly signed book (which was inscribed "to Carol, you wok, Marion xx). It was on Facebook pretty quickly!!
Had a quick drink before beddy and day #4 in Melbourne was over! Lots done and more to do (Bertie Ahern ;-)).
