This morning we left the Bedrock Caravan Park at Mount Surprise and we also left our friends Chook, Nat and the kids as they decided to go to Charters Towers and we headed the opposite direction for Normanton.
In Normanton we photographed the iconic Purple Pub and also there is a replica of the largest crocodile ever shot measuring a staggering 28ft (8.63m)!! On top of that it was shot by a woman!! You've probably guessed Kellie isn't writing this blog. Its been quite hot today, it was 34 degrees in Karumba when we arrived at 4.30 this afternoon but we loved the drive up as the picturesque landscape became more and more desolate, it's amazing how it changes so dramatically! Karumba is a small fishing town with a population of about 600, It's where the outback meets the ocean, quite amazing! There is not a lot here really, but everyone owns a boat as the fishing is great apparently. We wanted to free camp but there are no free camps around here so we are staying in a beautiful caravan park only 100m from the ocean, right on the edge of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Car and caravan going very well, but the radiator has developed a split in the top tank, (its plastic) a bit of 'bush mechanics' has sorted it out for now but unfortunately the radiator will need replacing soon! Tonight we are going to watch the sunset over the ocean which should be spectacular!

Nanny HIlder Lochie will have to try out his fishing skills if the fishing is great up there. The sunset photo you sent us looks spectacular. What a wonderful place to explore.
