The students have been on to me since 1 December about Christmas - so many questions - how will I celebrate, what about a tree and decorations, what about my family, will I go home (!!) etc etc. It's hard to beleive but they really have no concept of distance and find it impossible to imagine that I can't go home for Christmas given I get 1 day off!!!

Well I have succumbed to pressure and put up a Christmas tree - dont get too excited as it's a fairly motley looking one I know - but given I don't have one at all in Aus I think I've done OK. The students made the multitude of birds in all sizes for the tree and around the bottom. Apparently they are for good luck and happiness - I cant remember the exact story behind them but it was something to do with a beautiful girl flying off to meet the handsome Emperor.....similar to many of our fairy tales I thought.

I've been told that the school will be putting on Christmas dinner for me at a local restaurant with all the Chinese English teachers so that should be lots of fun. Karoake (KTV) is very popular here and I've been warned that I'll be expected to sing christmas carols.....oh what fun....NOT.......once they hear my voice I think they will soon get someone else to take over!!!

You will all be pleased to know that my performing role on TV has been put onto CD for me!!! Don't all rush me at once for a copy will you...... I've also been given a CD of me teaching one of my classes - I didn't realise they had filmed the whole lesson...oops.
