Kate's Chronicles
After the excitement of Teachers Day came the weekend....I still had not ventured into the city without my FAO (Foreign Affairs Officer) but Saturday night I was visited by many students who wanted to take me into town on Sunday afternoon - their only time off all week. Much laughter and hilarity ensued in my apartment as we made plans for the next day and I tried speaking more Chinese!!! The girls then wanted a photo with me with my hair down....needless to say I happily obliged.
Sunday afternoon as soon as school finished 4 of us headed into the city and I finally got to have a good look through the shops and do some much needed shopping.....clothes, shoes (yes Mum I know!!), nail polish etc. etc., and then the supermarket for some snacks to take home. Had a fantastic time with the girls- went to lunch at what I presume is the chinese version of a fast food restaurant(Couldn't read a word) so got the girls to order me something. Ended up with some very nice chicken, some very bony fish and of course rice. Had a great look around the city centre and the girls got me a city map 'so I wont get lost alone"......only problem is it is all in Chinese characters!!!! Not even a word of pinyin!!!
Today I had a lovely surprise when I entered my last class for the day....they decided I should have a "happy everyday" and decorated the board (see pics) They then presented me with the most gorgeous earrings and necklace.
As the title says.....you have to love your students
Bye for now,
Kate.

Di Back from QLD and glad to find you on line at last, was wondering if you were alive and well or not! Mum has heard from DJ in Sydney, I didn't have changed mobile number so who knows where his birthday message went. Will text him today. We are all well. Getting our first real taste of winter yesterday and today, 10 degrees, windy, rainy and COLD. And it's spring time! Renovations coming on, new roof on, all windows in and progressing inside. Only a few more weeks of house mayhem.
