Kate's Chronicles
Woke up this morning to realize that this was our last day of cruising :(:(。 ; The last few days have gone so quickly but the magical sights and sounds will be with me forever。 Today's excursion was to Fengdu – the "City of Ghosts)-The ghost city is a collection of fascinating temples – Buddhist, Taoist,Confucian- atop Mingshan (Ming Mountain)。 To the Chinese the social structure of the underworld is much like the real world。 In "Hell“ spirits will go through the bureaucracy of underworld officials to receive their final judgments。。。Ӎ 0;。。reminded me why I should be good in this life。。。I’ve already had enough bureaucracy to last several lifetimes!!!ᦀ 1; Needless to say we observed some aptly named landmarks such as Ghost Torturing Pass , Last Glance of Home Tower, No Way Out Bridge, River of Blood etc。Some bizarre sculptures, wizards, test your fidelity stone, naihi bridge- which one will you take?? Totally fascinating mix of culture, history, fantasy and fiction........
Afternoon spent relaxing onboard and making the most of our final views of the mighty Yangtze from the river while listening to the incessant explosion of fireworks as the Chinese bring in the New Year. Final night saw us enjoying a Chinese Banquet and all passengers presented with a Victoria Cruises key ring as a memento of our trip. Kept awake till well after midnight by the fireworks which did look spectacular against the back drop of the night lights of Chongqing…..even the ships crew set off fireworks at midnight!!! Was a little close for comfort and i just hoped they shot them far enough away......last thing we need is a fire onboard!!
