Day 5 Hridaya Yoga!! Upon waking this morning I tried something new I have been learning: Immune Booster - basically it involves a form of meditation where you put your concentration first on parts of the body and eventually on the whole body. I did this whilst laying in bed and realized that I had many thoughts about getting up, eating breakfast - an old mental thought probably related to my bodybuilding days - something I will need to let go of. The meditation started at 9am and I was feeling great and a nice little surprise from Maria (a flower on our yoga mats) reminded me of love. I found piece and comfort in my meditation today through a mix of focus on my breathing, focusing on my body and heart centre along with just being aware of all the thoughts crossing my mind. Meditation is surely a challenge and it definitely gives one a good indication of how disconnected they can become from their thoughts. When I did the 10 day Vipassina course many years ago I didn't really get the understanding behind the meditation but here in San Marcos everything is making sense. The Hridaya Hatha yoga class started and the 7 warm up activities really got the body heated and energy up today - I could finally remember the warm up poses and my mind was able to remain silent. The asanas got a little harder and we held poses for slightly longer which became possible through concentration on stillness and grace as opposed to pain and discomfort. Relaxation came and I struggled again to keep awareness but after talking with the teacher; it is a normal thing and I will try for stronger awareness next time. The lecture today was incredibly interesting and I found so many relevant points and ideas coming up. We looked at the Law of Polarity: where there is hot there is cold and with Hatha yoga - Ha represents the Sun and Masculine side whilst; Th represents the lunar and the feminine aspect. The interesting stuff that come up was the ability to see these energies (photography), how things like telepathy, synchronicity and lucid dreaming occur - all somewhat unexplainable phenomenons. I had 100 questions for our teacher which she kindly answered and gave me some good topics to read over for our two day break. We won't have class for the next 2 days but I will still try and keep up the meditation and not loose focus on my goal here. After some lunch I made my way into town with Maria and straight down the dock as the sun was shining and there was no sign of rain. It's hard to explain or write about the things that are happening to me - its as if everything I want I already have I just need to grasp it, all the information, all the sign posts all the meaning is already present I just need to access it which is what San Marcos and this wonderful yoga program are helping me do.
