Malacatos to Cuenca
In the morning I jumped in the back of the truck and got dropped off on the highway going to Loja. My plan was to try hitchhiking for an hour and then take the bus, a couple buses went by but no one picked me up so I jumped on the bus for a dollar or something and made my way to a Loja. Once a Loja I walked 10 blocks or so to the closest museum/castle touristy thing. It was nice and now I can say I at least did something in Loja.
I walk back to the bus station and decided I'm going to try hitchhiking again so I kept walking along the main road out of town with my thumb in the air! I bet I didn't walk more than a kilometer and Alexander, a Columbian from Quito, picked me up and said he could bring me all the way to Cuenca as he was headed back home to Quito. He was a super nice guy and even bought me lunch on the way there!
He drop me off as close as he could and I had to walk a couple hundred meters before I got on the bus that took me right to the centre of the city. I had put out quite a few requests on Couchsurf for the first time to try it out, two people had replied so I finally bought a Sim card for my phone! I couldn't get a hold of the dude that said he had a couch so I asked where I could find a cheap hostel and found one right away for like 10 bucks a night!
After I settled in I went out to find me some street meat, it didn't take long after eating vegetarian for so long and yes it was delicious!
