We arrived in Las Vegas on Saturday and drove down the hustle and bustle of the strip before arriving at The carriage House which will be our home for a week. It is right near Planet Hollywood and MGM Grand. After unpacking and catching up on some washing we wandered over to Planet Hollywood to have a look around and eat dinner before having an early night.
On Sunday we drove to. Town called Henderson, just outside Las Vegas, to have a look at a sports store called Dick's. Peter bought a couple of things. After lunch there we drove to Hoover Dam and got on a tour of the power plant. We descended something like 537 feet under the dam wall to see the original diversion tunnels - carved out to divert the Colorado River while they built the dam wall. From there we went further up to see the hydro-electric turbines and then went up on top to see the view from the top. There was plenty of information being piped over loudspeakers wherever you were. Lake Mead was being enjoyed by lots of people but the level was down quite a bit.
We did supermarket shopping on the way back - stocked up for the week as we return the car tomorrow. We ventured a bit further last night - saw the magnificent fountains at Bellagio Casino and turned a dollar or two there (coming out in front).
Today we're heading to the Outlet Malls before going to the Legends of Las Vegas show tonight at Harrah's Casino.
