Another holiday is coming to an end. We've left Sri Lanka in the middle of Vesak - a festival to celebrate Buddha's enlightenment. There were lanterns everywhere in Colombo and tonight is to be the height of celebrations and parades. Our flight will take us to Kuala Lumpur for a few hours then overnight to Melbourne. We're leaving hot and humid Asia again for much cooler weather in Melbourne but will be glad, as always, to be home.

We started the day a bit later today. No sunrise or early morning travel to see the sights! After a leisurely breakfast we went out to the camel farm and had a short ride, very quiet animals and a lovely young lady who was passionate about her work. From there it was back to the airport to return the car and get on our Jetstar flight home. We've had a great time and certainly packed a lot into our few days in the Red Centre.

It was another early start today as we headed south west towards King's Canyon. The road out of Yulara was typical red dirt and sparse vegetation and we only saw a couple of other cars. Our trip to King's Canyon would take about 2.5 hours and we would turn off the Lassiter Highway about half way through the trip. Last night we were picked up from our hotel and taken out into the desert for dinner and to watch the sunset with Uluru as the backdrop. We stood on top of a sand dune sipping champagne, listening to a didgeridoo player and eating canapés while the sun set over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. We left Melbourne on an early flight and landed at Ayers Rock at 11am with a one and a half hour time difference. The shuttle bus picked us up and took us to our hotel - Sails in the Desert.
