We arrived in Colombo yesterday morning after driving along the coast road. We stopped briefly at a turtle hatchery and saw the conservation work that this group of young men do by collecting and incubating turtle eggs before returning the hatchlings to the sea. We enjoyed our few days in Galle and eating out at the local restaurants. It was a short drive to Unawatuna on Tuesday morning and have spent our days since then walking into town after breakfast, having a decent coffee, having a swim in the beach before walking back to our hotel pool and relaxing. Our drive from Yala along the south coast revealed some lovely beach areas. We stopped at Weligama to enjoy some rotti for lunch - vegetable as well as banana and honey - they were delicious. We arrived at Yala National Park yesterday afternoon after a long drive down from the tea plantations. On our last night up in the hills we had planned on going into town for dinner. We came to Nuwara Eliya on the train yesterday. We travelled from Kandy, up through the hills on the rough train track, being jolted all the way - a four hour journey. The scenery along the way was fantastic and we were served a meal of chicken curry and rice and coffee because we were travelling first class!
