We arrived into San Francisco last night and took the BART bus and train to the wharf area then a taxi to our hotel. After checking in we headed to the wharf area - the wind was freezing cold - and found Boudins for clam chowder in a sour dough roll for our tea - it still tastes as good as the first time we tried it!
This morning we headed up to the cable car station and bought a day pass - our first stop at Lombard St. Peter could not get over the hills and steep streets - you really have to be here to get an idea of them. From Lombard St we got back on the cable car and headed to Union Square, walked to Market St and caught a bust to see the colorful houses around Alamo Square. More buses and cable cars took us back to Fisherman's Wharf where we caught another bus to go up to Coit Tower to see views all around San Francisco - again the wind was icy cold, even though it's been a lovely warm and sunny day. Tonight we'll head to the wharf for dinner and get ready for the trip to Alcatraz tomorrow.
