This morning we caught the local trolley bus into San Diego - we are staying at Chula Vista which is about 10 miles south of the city. Once we got there we took a short walk to the harbourside and boarded the Old Town trolley - a hop on and off bus tour of the city. We drove past Seaport Village, the Marina area, Horton Plaza, through the Gaslamp Quarter and along the beachfront. From there we headed over the bridge to Coronado which is largely a Marine Base but many people also live on the island and it has a lovely area of shops and restaurants. After a short drive around we went back over the bridge and up to balboa park where the Zoo is before making a lunch stop in Little Italy. The sun was shining and we sat in an outdoor patio having a lovely pasta and pizza lunch. We boarded the bus again and drove through the Old Town area before making our way back to the Harbour.
We decided to walk over and look at the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier before continuing on to The Gaslamp Quarter - it was the hottest day the San Diego has had all summer - 32c and it certainly felt hot as we walked the few blocks. We had a quick look around and a drink before getting back on the local trolley bus to Chula Vista.
