On Monday afternoon we took a tour to the eastern part of Oahu. We went past numerous beaches and stopped at Hanauma Bay nature preserve which was a lovely snorkeling beach that originated as a lake in a volcanic crater - one edge of the rim eroded and opened it to the sea. We moved along the coast and saw a blowhole through a lava tube. The mountain range along this part of the island was stunning and had clouds hugging the top of it. As we moved inland and up the mountains we saw waterfalls and stopped at Nu'uana Pau lookout we we saw out to sea. It was well worth doing the tour to see more of this lovely island.
On Tuesday we just had a lazy day in Waikiki, sitting by the beach watching the waves and the surfers, watching catamarans go out into the breeze and watching the people come and go.
Tomorrow we have an early start to get to our 7am flight to mainland USA and the largest part of our holiday so it will be early to bed tonight to get ready for the next part of the adventure.

susan What a gorgeous picture. I've been to Hawaii, but barely. No time for exploring. It's on the list.
