Worst hotel: Formula 1, Calais (£31/night)
Worst value for money: Rhine Falls hotel, Swiss (£95/night)
Favourite locations: Meteora (Greece), Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria), Bran (Romania), Vac (Hungary)
Worst locations: Hungary / Romania border crossing, Ruse (Bulgaria)
Best biking roads: NW Greece, Shipka Pass (Bulgaria), Bran Pass (Romania), Jungfraupass (Italy). May have included the Eifel region (Germany) if weather had been dry.
Most challenging roads: Nurburgring in the rain, Timmelsjoch Pass (scary drops), road out of Hungary (very busy), road after Oradea (digging up road, moguls), road after Transfagarasan Pass (very bumpy), white road bypassing village in Southern Bulgaria (digging up road), route to hotels in Edirne and Canakkale (digging up roads).
Worst driving behaviour - Daewoo Matiz taxi driver in Romania, overtaking manoeuvres on the main road from Hungary to Romania, motorcyclists in Turkey and Greece who think a helmet is for carrying only, the British nutter on a sports bike who squeezed passed us both at a 100 mph+ in the fast lane on the M20.
Friendliest person: Gokay (Edirne)
Rudest person: Turkish border guard, staff on ferry to Venice, waiter on motorail train.
Best meal: t-bone steaks in Ruse (£20 for two), posh meal in Venice.
Worst meal: Bag of crisps from 'cafe/mini-market' after Fagarasenpass. Couldn't see anything we wanted to buy / risk eating.
Worst moment: Negotiating with the Romanian AA how to tie the bike down and working out where it was going.
Fines in Austria.
Cheapest petrol: Bulgaria £1.10/litre.
Most expensive petrol: Greece 2.02 euros (£1.60/litre)!
Best scenery: Meteora, German Alpine Route, Transylvania ( if you ignore the litter).
