Heading up to Venice today on the ferry. 26 hours on board.

Arrived at the ferry port in sunshine again. This is the most southerly point of our trip, and 3550 miles from home. It dried out soon after our last stop ready for some more twisty roads. Overall Greece has been the best country for motorcycling - lots of twisty roads, great scenery, and hardly any traffic. A police motorcyclist told us the roads were quiet due to the economic crisis. Left Meteora in beautiful weather along some nice twisty roads. Arrived in Ioannina just in time for a big storm (see picture). Took shelter in a restaurant that gave Jane some free cakes (see pictures).

It's been "animals in the road day" today. We've had cows, dogs and even a 2m long snake! Went to see one of the monasteries this morning and this afternoon headed off to Pertouli in the mountains, and one of the best biking roads on our trip so far. Even better as we didn't have all of our heavy luggage with us. Over 2 hours of constant turns and s bends. A fun but tiring day!

Spent today exploring Meteora. Most unusual / spectacular scenery so far. Lots of strange rocks with monasteries on top. Staying at the very nice Hotel Doupiani which has great views of Meteora. Website says it featured in a recent BBC series - possibly Joanna Lumley's Greek Odyssey? Finished the day by cooking another balcony meal - Thai red curry - our first one for a couple of weeks. Meals have been very cheap recently so hasn't been worth doing our own ...
