Kununurra
Sunny, windy, 31 degrees
Up early today as we were being picked up at 8.30 for a flight to the Bungle Bungles. We were on a seven seater plane with Sonny our pilot. He was great, very informative, he told us about the Ord river dam, Lake Argyle, of course the Bungle Bungles and the Argyle Diamond Mine all of which we flew over. Lake Argyle is huge! It looks spectacular from the air! We were lucky enough to also have a landing in the Bungles as others on our flight were going to hike some of it. Usually on our flight you do not land in there. The airstrip is huge though. Not really a remote country landing that I thought it would be. Fascinating to see the rock formations from the air and also the impressive gorges. And then on the way back to see how huge the diamond mine is. A great experience!
We got dropped back about lunchtime. And then about 3 pm we went on a sunset cruise on Lake Kununurra. It was lovely and peaceful and relaxing. But not a lot of wildlife or bird life which was a bit disappointing. Lovely sunset at the end. Had dinner on board, okay but nothing too special.
