Exmouth to Yannarie River
Sunny, 29 degrees
Left the caravan park in Exmouth just after 10. Got some fuel and then headed back along the Cape Range. First we stopped at the lighthouse for a great view of all the coast along the cape. Then we went back to Turquoise Bay. Lauri had a snorkel there as he had not the other day. The tide was well in this time. So quite different to the other day when it was low tide. It was quite busy down there, lots of people snorkelling.
Then headed back to Exmouth again, picked up a few things for dinner etc, and then headed back up the highway towards Karratha. We knew we were not going to arrive there tonight, as we didn't leave until 2.30. We had decided to free camp for the night somewhere along the way.
Arrived about 5pm at Yannarie River. Huge free camp. We had only just downloaded Wikicamps last night after hearing about it many times. Cost $8. And because of it we knew where all the best free camps along the highway were. So paid for itself straight away!
This one has toilets, tables, dump, water. Lovely under the stars. Peace and quiet. A lot of vans there but huge area so heaps of spaces. We look forward to finding more down the track.
We cooked our dinner, have the gas for the fridge, stove and water. The lights all work on the battery. So no need for anything else. Beautiful sunset just after we arrived. Couldn't be better!
