Kalbarri to Denham
Started off with some sunshine early this morning which looked promising but it didn't last long.
Left the caravan park about 10am. First stop Rainbow Jungle which is a bird park just outside the town. Lots of parrots, cockatoos etc. very pretty birds. We spent about two hours there.
Left for the trip up to Denham about 12.00. It rained for most of the trip and was very windy too. Not a pleasant day.
We stopped about three quarters of the way in Hamelin Pool, for a coffee and muffin. We went for a short walk but it was still so cold with a very chilly wind coming straight off the water, so we were glad to get back in the van.
The countryside has changed a lot now, lots of red dirt and short scrubby trees. No signs of civilization anywhere. No farms, no cattle, no houses. Mostly flat, but a few hilly areas. We did see a few emus, but nothing else.
Arrived in Denham about 4pm. Lovely little town right on the beach with white sand and blue water. Very remote town.
Stayed at the Denham Tourist Village, which has sites right up the top which overlook the ocean. Lovely view but it was still so cold and windy and raining so we didn't sit outside anyway to see it.
We went out for dinner at Shark Bay Hotel which was nice. First dinner out since we arrived in Perth two weeks ago. Straight to bed again when I got back as I am still so very tired. Will be so glad when I have normal energy again.
