Day 4 Picked up the car out of town. A beaten up cracked windscreen, white Chevy Malibu, an automatic, much to claires disgust. The weather turned seriously cloudy and all of our plans fell apart so we just continued down to Portage glacier on the way to Seward, couldnt see a damned thing at Portage as the cloud level starts at navel height. Same thing at seward but raining. The tourist ranger office was useless in offering hiking suggestions for the whole region.....dumbass We set up camp by the coast and soon realised we needed to buy a tarp fpor the tent and picnic area. We went for a cheaky drive around and stopped off at a bizarre Art Cafe which was like a knitting circle in a school hall listening to a local live jazz band. Nice! We cooked our first meal on our little stove, pasta sauce and horrid hotdogs, then off to bed pretty damp.
