Ian & Claire's Adventure
Day 6
We took the plunge and headed around the peninsular towards Homer as hiking seemed miserable in thei weather. On the way we decided to attempt one so called "easy" 3 hours hike to crescent creek. It started ok walking through the woodland looking fir bears in our packa ponchos and met our first alaskan red squirrel; daft creatures you wouldnt know they were there until you got up close and they squeek at you.
We eventually gave up very pissed off after 3.5 hours and still no lake and headed back along the same trail.
We got to Homer pretty late at around sunset and drove straight out along the spit. Odd, a few miles of sandbank with tents and RV's pitched up along the stoney beach. Groups of guitar swinging hippies and communities set up camp fires and little tents, bless the self registration service.
