Just as I wrote that things are coming together in our last blog entry - things just about came apart (read: got blown up). It was a memorable July 19th:
- Trip to the dump - always a crowd pleaser
- Health and Safety officers on site because of the exterior finishing crew - we already knew they were total losers, so no surprise there
- 911 on site because the landscaper ripped our gasline apart, neighbours had to evacuate homes - as if they didn't hate us already
So needless to say that spirits were LOW that evening. We have since recovered and things have been moving along nicely. We won't be able to move in on our planned date, because of the exterior finishing loser crew. But we've since gotten rid of them and will hopefully have a new crew on site by Tuesday.
Plumbing fixtures have been installed, the tile setter did great work, the electrical outlets and fixtures are in, the main panel wiring currently underway, the stairs are partially in, wardrobes have been assembled, the kitchen countertop got installed, heating and ventilation systems have been commissioned, remaining interior doors have been installed.... the list is long and the place looks great.
A couple more weeks and we'll be moving in - we're keeping our fingers crossed for the City inspection as we have our current place rented out and if we can't move into the new place, might just be found tenting somewhere along the river with my sister, her husband and two kids!!!! Right - I forgot to mention: we've got visitors coming AND want/need to move into a new home.
We are looking forward to having more space and being able to have friends and family over. And when you do come and visit us, pretend we didn't age by 10 years at least, don't look worn out and ignore the twitch we'll most likely have whenever the new house gets mentioned.
