Leg 5: race 7: day 28
Woken at 6.30 was in a deep sleep! Breakfast of porridge up on deck at 7am which is 9pm Sunday night (uk and Utc time)
The race finished at this time we are 5th ! Such a pity we didn't get a 1st 2nd or 3rd. All because we lost time on the 10th due to things not getting done sooner! Oh well you learn by your mistakes so with daily meetings and an improvement on communication I am sure we will do better in next race.
To celebrate the end of the race Caroline brought out sparklers. Once we get to Vietnam we will have sailed 6600 miles! Should have been around 4000 but with the course extension it increased the miles.
Was on deck 7-10 doing rope work then came down below to start on deep clean before we get into port.
All the boat has to be scrubbed floor out bilges cleaned.
Had lunch (pasta) bed for a rest. Fell into a deep sleep and woke at 3pm. Watched a film in my bunk then up at 6.30pm for dinner then on watch, spent some of my watch cleaning the bilges near the forward heads. Finished watch at 11pm went to bed as they don't need standby watch as on way to port and race finished. Saving energy for tomorrow to clean out sail locker..
